WOODBURY, Conn – June 19, 2009 – Axerra Networks, “the leading provider carrier grade Pseudo-wire circuit emulation and service emulation solutions, today announced that a US Tier-1 MSO has started mass deployment of Axerra’s AXN products. The AXN solution enables the MSO to offer its Mobile Network Operator (MNO) customers both legacy T1 and next generation mobile backhaul services over its existing nation-wide packet network.
Axerra’s AXN Pseudo-Wire Access Devices are being deployed at cellular tower sites and AXN Pseudo-Wire Gateways are being deployed at Mobile Switch Center (MSC) sites. The end-to-end network is being managed using Axerra’s AXNVision Pseudo-wire network management suite. To date, Axerra has received equipment orders and has shipped product for MSO services deployment to over 1,500 towers in support of multiple Tier-1 (MNO) end customers.
The MSO selected the AXN solution following a rigorous certification testing and selection process. Multiple mobile backhaul related technology attributes contributed to the selection of Axerra including Axerra’s mobile backhaul high precision clock recovery (HPCR) technology, traffic Quality of Services (QOS) mechanisms, end-to-end network management and diagnostic features, and the overall scalability of the portfolio solution.
“Axerra Networks is pleased to be working with one of the top MSOs in the US in support of their mobile backhaul services initiative,” said Reinhard Florin, GM – Americas, of Axerra Networks. “The addition of Axerra’s AXN solution to the MSO’s existing packet network and fiber infrastructure enables the MSO to provide its MNO end-user customers a compelling alternative to traditional local exchange carrier backhaul services. The MSO’s solution is flexible enough to meet today’s 2G and 3G transport legacy TDM requirements yet provide for a rapid upgrade for future 4G protocol and bandwidth requirements when needed”.
Axerra’s scalable Pseudo-Wire solutions, deployed in cell sites and central offices, enable a new era in RAN backhaul that supports the transport of legacy and new voice and high-speed data over a common packet network infrastructure. The AXN Pseudo-Wire solutions simultaneously enable operators’ to significantly reduce recurring costs while utilizing next generation packet networks such as Carrier Ethernet, GPON/EPON, xDSL, HFC, and WiMAX for Radio Access Network (RAN) backhaul.
Axerra’s solutions support all generations of mobile networks and RAN technologies including GSM, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, HSPA, and the emerging LTE standards. Axerra’s solutions preserve native signaling and features, enable bandwidth sharing, and provide the high-precision clock recovery capabilities that are required for reliable mobile services deployment over a packet network infrastructure.
AXN Pseudo-Wire Gateways and Access Devices support TDM circuit emulation and service emulation for Frame Relay/HDLC, Ethernet, and ATM services in support of 2G, 2.5G, 3G, and beyond using a single hardware platform. AXN Pseudo-Wire technology controls latency, jitter, and packet loss – critical capabilities for reliable mobile applications.
About Axerra Networks, Inc.
Axerra Networks is the leading provider of circuit emulation and service emulation solutions over packet access networks. Axerra’s Pseudo-Wire solutions enable incumbent carriers, competitive service providers, mobile wireless operators, and cable MSOs to extend IP + legacy voice and data services in native format over Ethernet, IP, and MPLS networks. The result is greater operational efficiency, new revenue opportunities, and a smooth migration strategy to a single converged network, without losing any revenue streams from profitable legacy services. With Axerra’s Pseudo-Wire solutions, service providers can convert any packet access network (Carrier Ethernet, broadband wireless including WiMAX, cable HFC, xDSL, xPON, etc.) into a full-service alternative to TDM access.
