The solution enables full-featured, carrier-grade voice and data services to be offered from cable operators’ existing HFC infrastructures. In addition, the solution enables MSOs to penetrate the lucrative wireless backhaul market by providing an alternative to T1 leased lines in the Radio Access Network.

The solution combines the capabilities of Axerra's family of AXN Pseudo-Wire Gateways and Access Devices™ with the DOCSIS and EuroDOCSIS capabilities provided by ARRIS’ Cadant family of Cable Modem Termination Systems (CMTSs). The combined solution enables cable operators to deliver the revenue-generating services for which corporations have traditionally paid telecom carriers, including T1 and E1 leased lines, full-featured voice connections to the public-switched telephone network, Frame Relay, a range of Layer 2 VPNs (Virtual Private Networks) including Transparent LAN services (TLS), and even cell-site backhaul service for mobile/wireless operators.
