Axerra
Networks, who pioneered the concept of multiservice over
packet (now called Pseudo-Wires)
with our unique AXN Pseudo-Wire Gateways and Access Devices,
recently participated in the drafting of the Metro Ethernet
Forum’s White Paper entitled “Introduction to Circuit
Emulation Services over Ethernet.” As a member of the
Metro Ethernet Forum and a frequent contributor to their work
in defining the standards and requirements for circuit emulation
services, we were pleased to lend our expertise to this informative
document.
This White Paper provides an excellent introduction to Circuit
Emulation Service over Ethernet (CESoE), which enables the
support of synchronous services such as T1/E1 over an asynchronous
Ethernet infrastructure. The paper discusses the benefits of
Circuit Emulation Service over Ethernet to service providers
offering Ethernet access services, as well as to the subscribers
to those services in various applications. Finally, the paper
discusses the current activities of the Metro Ethernet Forum
in standardizing and promoting CESoE.
